A Self - Fulfilling Prophecy from Lilia Poustovit
"I always ask myself whether I have been effective as a clothing designer if I cannot even convince people to experiment with their coats once in a blue moon. So I decided to give people an alternative. Not everyone will embrace my ideas, but that is not the point. My idea was to liberate at least some of the casual crowd". Lilia Poustovit
POUSTOVIT is one of the grand masters of Ukrainian fashion: her experience counts decades, and her influence on younger generations of designers is unparalleled. For the season FALL WINTER 2015, she speaks in favor of her signature "sense and sensuality" look.
Caring about the health and comfort of her clientele, POUSTOVIT has filled the collection with midi and maxi dresses. Strong and fearless, POUSTOVIT has always been an advocate of wearing bold colors during colder months.
"It is a howling shame, how little phantasy people put into building their winter and demi-season wardrobe. I don't hold anything against black, grey and dark blue, but when everyone wears these colors, it becomes a little scary and demotivating. I always ask myself whether I have been effective as a clothing designer if I cannot even convince people to experiment with their coats once in a blue moon. So I decided to give people an alternative. Not everyone will embrace my ideas, but that is not the point. My idea was to liberate at least some of the casual crowd".
Another special thing about this collection is the variety of silhouettes. There is no common cut that unites the items and makes the designs recognizable. On the contrary, POUSTOVIT challenged herself by creating outfits for every conceivable type of figure, and every imaginable complexion. There are hourglass shapes, divided by a belt placed precisely on the waist; also, there are geometrically strict dresses that emphasize the arms and legs instead of the curves. Then again, there are Empire-style floor-length dresses for nights out and gala events.
When it comes to color combinations POUSTOVIT suggests using a duo: black or other basic dark color that occupies about 30% of the look and any bright saturated hue that will breath life into the remaining part of the outfit. The borders between the colors are strictly graphic and mostly vertical. As for haberdashery, this collection underlines the upfront details with large, plate-like buttons. A separate topic is the print principle of the collection: these elements are unusually large, they attract the attention of those who surround you. Some of the prints mimic to look like flares, but they are not really such.
The collection includes relatively strong golden infusions, just on the border of sophisticated casual and upfront luxury. Also, you can indulge in lemony yellow, dirty orange, pastel beige and plain red. By the way, the red color is used as a flashlight, making the necessary highlights on various parts of the body (the hips or the chest), visually making the figure slimmer.
In every collection, no matter big or small, regular of special, POUSTOVIT includes at least one shirt-dress, her favorite type of casual wear. This one is no exception. With lots of other designs, this item is omnipresent, which looks really charming.
