Behind the Scenes of Precious 7 Magazine
As fashion week leaves New York City to continue showcasing the best works to the world, many young designers got inspired by the pieces of the professionals. With everyone trying to find their style and voice among the competition, it must be a challenge for companies like Precious 7 to find the right designer to tell his story.
“If there is a tale of struggle or wisdom, and most importantly, if there is a passion for the craft, then I tell their story.”
Anna Maria Sandegren started her journey in the fashion world about 14 years ago working in various areas of the industry. She used to be a buyer, owner of three stores in three different countries in Europe, a PR, marketing and digital luxury branding and design and worked in a showroom. However, her true passion she discovered while getting to know the up-coming talents that she has worked with. “During that period, I met so many talented people and emerging designers who were extremely passionate about their craft but didn’t have a website or the funds to market themselves properly.” Knowing her love for writing and networking, she took a charge of creating her own magazine dedicated to promoting those talents. “So with the help of my husband’s design agency, Calliope Studio, we created Precious 7 Magazine.” Their very first publication was launched in 2013 and, as Anna Maria states, “three years and still going strong!”
As fashion week leaves New York City to continue showcasing the best works to the world, many young designers got inspired by the pieces of the professionals. With everyone trying to find their style and voice among the competition, it must be a challenge for companies like Precious 7 to find the right designer to tell his story. “I don’t have a formula for anything I do. If I think the story behind the brand is intriguing enough and there is a passion for the craft, then I tell the story. I think all the designers I feature are important in their own way, each of them has taught me something important, and they are all on the road to major success.” Anna Maria also explains that she looks for talents from all over the world, most of which come from places other than NYC. In response about her opinion of ODIVO platform, as a mean to promote promising designers to the fashion world, she said, “I love what ODIVO is doing, we both believe in the emerging talents. She sells them and I write about them! We are a true perfect match!”
As a fashionista, Anna Maria knows it all about street style and its importance in the world of fashion inspiration. “I think that street style is a concept now, though the style has always been found all over, especially the streets.” Her words of wisdom: fashion should be something everyone should have fun with experimenting. “I think people take it so seriously and to me, the best-dressed people I turn to for inspiration have one thing in common – they all had fun getting dressed! Elsa Schiaparelli, Iris Apfel, and Peggy Guggenheim to name a few!”
“As a young and ambitious girl that came to NYC, I am preparing myself for the big game in the big city. Share your precious tips on how to create a unique and successful look.”
In response to this question, Anna Maria simply said, “Always be yourself! If you have boundaries, break them!” Instead of dressing yourself in one designer, she prefers to mix and match between interesting pieces. “I create an ensemble based on my mood, an occasion and anything else that may effect me that morning.” She explains that fashion should be accessible for all, therefore she chooses to wear emerging brands and vintage.
“That way I can mix things up and create many different looks from some basics.”
Precious 7 Magazine has a clear vision to serve as the open door for newcomers into the fashion world. In order to share her tips and secrets of her style, Anna Maria created her personal fashion blog theseventhstyle.com, being the next blog you should follow.
