LAKE By KAMENSKAKONONOVA Collections
LAKE collections exemplify how a simple but powerful arrangement of color, fabric, and passion can collide into one body of work. While she colored the clothing in monochrome and subtly complemented it with dashes of light green, Kononova uses strong colors and objects to contrast the clothing’s neutral gradient during the photo shoot. She contrasts masculinity and femininity: the force that drives this collection.

Olesya Kononova’s LAKE collections exemplify how a simple but powerful arrangement of color, fabric, and passion can collide into one body of work. While she colored the clothing in monochrome and subtly complemented it with dashes of light green, Kononova uses strong colors and objects to contrast the clothing’s neutral gradient during the photo shoot. She contrasts masculinity and femininity: the force that drives this collection.
Kononova used sustainable textiles throughout this collection and even produced LAKE’s iconic silk robes with textured silk to better match the rest of the clothing.
She juxtaposed the shapes and materials with feminine designs, such as rounded shoulders and light coats. These characteristics reflect the 1950s women: both possess male characteristics while in a female form. Throughout that decade, women relinquished their jobs and freedom to the men returning from World War II. To capture that suppressed spirit, Kononova hopes this collection conveys confidence as well as comfort, and she designed the clothing while contemplating how women would feel while wearing her pieces.
The models embodied this demeanor during the photo shoot. Their hairstyles and natural makeup replicate that of women’s styles during the 1950s, and many models assumed powerful poses while directly staring at the camera. This collection communicates the constant power contrast between genders, and Kononova’s designs capture this spirit perfectly.
